On One Year...

I knew that somewhere through the hustle and bustle of this week that there was something that I was forgetting.
I'm not sure what it was that triggered it off on my train ride home, but eventually it dawned upon me...
On one hand, a year seems like a small blip on the radar in the grand scheme of things, but on the other hand when I think about just how much has happened and changed and how we are already half way through 2008 it truly boggles my mind.
I started off with the intention of this being 5 (6 months max) stay and yet here I still am. (Just like my initial plans to only stay in Australia for 4 years to complete uni!)
Life really is what happens while you're busy make other plans it seems.
I turned a quarter century nearly a month ago and I've been reflecting a lot about what it is like to get older. It isn't actually as bad as people make it out to be. I am so much more confident and comfortable in my skin than when I was a teenager... nah, scrap that, make that even more comfortable now than when I was a uni student!
I'm so much closer to knowing what I want to do and my impact than ever before. And even better, I'm not afraid to make mistakes and learn from them in the process of getting there.
So my head has decided that I will be here until the end of the year when I head overseas once again. I think I'm still waiting for my heart to get there, which is unusual since I usually find it is the other way round when I make a decision.
Perhaps it is because I'm not done with Melbourne yet. 6 more months to experience as much of this beautiful city as possible. I haven't earned my Victorian stripes yet. Still much much more to explore.
P.S. Thanks Miss Fi for the accidental/coincidental night of celebration (the Cointreaupolitan cocktail shakers are awesome!)

As of the 26th June, I've been officially living in Melbourne for one whole year.

Hey Melissa...sometimes i really enjoy reading your blogs, they sounds meaningful. I think it is right that you do get to know more about yourself as you get older..and start to realise what is the right path for you to head towards. Your job give you many opportunities to explore the world outside..travelling to many places and experiencing the many different obstacles u may face. You know I have changed jobs and now I am working at King George V School....a high school..don't know how i ended up there..but life is funny isn't it?
Congratulations on your year in Melbourne Mel.
It's a great reminder for me to make the most of Sydney :)
(P.S. See you soon!)
